OK, maybe that came out wrong. I care about how you want to give birth. If you tell me you want to have your baby in a certain way I’ll care very much about that and help you with that kind of birth. What I don’t care about is what I think about your way of giving birth.
It’s still not making sense is it?
Let me put it another way:
There is no right way to have a baby.
Some of them are born out of vaginas. Some of them are even born out of other people’s vaginas. Some of them are born by abdominal surgery. All of those births are awesome births.
Some babies are born in hospitals. Some babies are born at home. Some babies are born in a warm tub of water. Some babies are born under a bright light. All of those births are awesome.
Some people dance around in labour. Some people nap through contractions with the help of pain medication. Some people walk up and down quiet hallways. Some people rock and moan. All of those births are awesome.
Am I being any clearer?
I want you to have a birth that you want to have. And I will support your birth the way it happens. If you want to choose an epidural I will remind you of what an awesome birthing person you are. If you work through a birth with no medical interventions I will remind you that you are an awesome birthing person.
Because I really don’t care how you want to give birth. Except I do, in the best way possible.
