Some babies seem to miraculously start sleeping th Some babies seem to miraculously start sleeping through the night all on their own - if your sister (or your cousin or your co-worker or that guy you know from high school) can be believed. Want to be the parent whose baby does that? Or at least starts sleeping way better and don't wake up eleventy-hundred times a night?

Join Meghan Bowser-Taylor as she shares with you the things you need to do to lay a solid sleep foundation for your baby.

It's never too late, so even if your baby isn't quite so little anymore, don't miss this episode because these habits will help any newborn, baby or toddler sleep better.

Baby gas! What causes it and how to get it out? Y Baby gas! What causes it and how to get it out? You will not believe how much of an obsession your baby's digestive process will become. And helping baby's move gas around is going to be a daily, sometimes hourly, concern.

So let's talk about that this week! Leanne will help you understand what's going on with all that gas and how to help your baby be as comfortable as possible.

Some of what she has to say might surprise you, so make sure you don't miss the show on Wednesday at noon, especially if you have questions, LIVE on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/birthandbabytalk/posts/268893771552089 (Psst! This link is live in our bio!)
At the beginning of the week we went into modified At the beginning of the week we went into modified lockdown, but before the end of the week we'll be back in full lockdown - or something near it, I'm losing track of the differences. If you're anything like me, you're feeling really stressed out. So, let's do a thing together. Let's start meditating.

Meditation is the number one thing I recommend to people preparing for birth who are looking for something they can do to have a better birth experience. In my experience, clients who meditate have smoother, shorter and calmer births.

It's like power-lifting for your mind. It trains the brain to remain calm through stressful situations. And birth is nothing if not stressful. Meditation teaches the brain to shift your attention away from the inconsequential things and gifts us with peace and patience.

Want to start meditating with me? Or renew a practice that got waylaid by life?

Let's start by just sitting wherever you are and closing your eyes. But, finish reading this first.

Close your eyes and relax wherever you happen to be. Focus inward on the sound of your breath coming in and out of your body. Breathe deep into your belly, slowly, while your belly expands. Then gently let the air come back out. Feel your belly fall, deflating slowly. That's one.

Now let's do nine more. Breathe in slowly and then exhale. Hear the sound of it inside your head? Feel your body expand and contract. Hear a number for each breath inside your mind as a sigh with each exhalation. Feel the tension melt out of your face and neck and shoulders. Let it melt away from your back and arms and legs with each out-breath.

When you've reached 10, take a moment to enjoy the calm inside you and the comfort in your body. Take a moment to acknowledge any dis-ease you are feeling in your muscles, your heart or your mind. And, when you are ready, open your eyes and carry on with your day.

Whenever you are feeling tense or anxious, you can always return to this calm by stopping, closing your eyes, and focusing on the simple, slow movement of breathe into and out of your body.

Let me know if you want to join me. And tell me if you gave yourself the gift of calm after reading.

Sundays on the sofa are my favourite thing. Everyo Sundays on the sofa are my favourite thing. Everyone in comfy clothes and curled up with books and devices and snacks and knitting. Blankets are a must! As is near endless TikTok scrolling of sports watching.

I hope you've been able to slow down and just loaf around with the peeps you love the best!
The transformation you felt when your little one w The transformation you felt when your little one was born was profound. You still looked the same on the outside, but on the inside you were something totally new: a father.

You fell in love with that baby smell, and could sit for hours just staring at that precious child sleep. You delighted in every twitch and funny face they made. You laughed till tears rolled down your face the first time your baby pooped while you were holding their diapered bottom in your hand, marvelling where it all came from.

You felt a shift as your old conceits about what life meant loosened and then faded away from you. Because now you had helped create life! And protecting that little life, and the partner who helped you create and sustain it, was the now the thing that inspired everything.

One day that little baby would start to talk and call you Dad. Then they'd crawl and then they'd run. And, pretty soon they'll be telling you how impossibly uncool you are while trying to convince you to let them take the car.

But, right now they slumber against your chest, sighing in their sleep, sleeping in a warm curl you don't ever want to let go of.
Snowdrops! I love when I spot Snowdrops (Galanthu Snowdrops! I love when I spot Snowdrops (Galanthus) in someone's garden. They are a sign that spring is just around the corner.

The tiny white, dropping blossoms above a clump of bright, fresh green emerging from last fall's leaves and the dirt covered in patches of the last snow always make me smile.

They mean the days are getting longer, the sun is getting warmer in the afternoons and the natural world is waking up from its long winter nap.

Have you seen any Snowdrops recently?
Starting solids can look a lot of different ways, Starting solids can look a lot of different ways, but there is a growing movement of parents - and the health workers who support them - that are looking at the optimal way to help their babies learn to eat that works with baby's developmental abilities.
